Understanding Tennis Elbow

Tennis elbow, also known as lateral epicondylitis, is a common overuse injury that develops due to the repetitive use of the forearm muscles when playing tennis. Symptoms include tenderness and pain around the outside of the elbow, sometimes accompanied by weakness in the forearm and wrist.

The exact cause of tennis elbow still remains unknown today. However, experts hypothesize that its onset may be linked to cold weather conditions. Ice is often recommended for decreasing inflammation and pain levels in an injured area, which explains why colder temperatures can exacerbate those suffering from tennis elbow. Despite this possibility, people should be wary not to overexert their arms during cold weather to prevent further irritation and discomfort.
